Prepare your garden for Spring:
- Spring Cleaning & Debris Removal
Remove any fallen leaves, dead plants, and other accumulated debris from your garden
Neaten beds & boarders for a clean growing space and remove any weeds
- Soil Preparation
Consider testing your soil to tailor your fertilization to your needs
Add compost or manure to improve soil sructure & fertility
Turn over soil to aerate it, which promotes healthy root development
- Prune shrubs & trees and remove dead/damaged branches
- Apply a layer of mulch to help suppress weedsm retain mositure & improve soil
- Planting Information:
Starting seeds indoors can give them a headstart before the growing season begins
Plant cold-hardy crops like lettuce, spinach, and peas as soon as the soil is workable
Divide perennials to add more plants to your garden or share with friends
Organize your spring garden planting based on the plants' germination times
Easy Sugar Cookies:
- 2 3/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 Cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions:
- In a small bowl, stir flour, baking soda, and baking powder together
- Beat sugar and butter together in a large bowl using an electric mixer until smooth
- Beat in egg and vanilla
- Gradually blend in flour mixture
- Roll dough into walnut-sized balls and place 2" apart on an ungreased baking sheet
- Bake in the oven (375 degrees) until edges are golden, 8-10 minutes
- Cool on the baking sheet briefly before moving to wire rack to cool completely
Easter Punch
- 6 Cups raspberry juice
- 3 Cups Sprite or lemon-lime soda
- 3 cups fresh fruit (sliced watermelon, cantaloupe or pineapple)
- Lemon slices
- Ice Cubes
- Easter sprinkles for garnish
- 4 cups (960ml) sherbert - optional
Directions
- Combine raspberry juice and Sprite in large punch bowl or pitcher
- Add the fresh fruit and lemon slices to the mixture
- Place plenty of ice cubes in the punch to keep it cold
- Stir the punch gently to mix the ingredients
- Finish the punch by scooping sherbert on top and garnish with Easter sprinkles
- Serve chilled 7 enjoy
