Make Halloween 2025 safe and fun in your family-friendly neighborhoods with these quick trick-or-treating tips.

1. Plan a Safe Route
   Choose well-lit, walkable streets. Stick to homes with porch lights on. 

2. Wear Safe, Visible Costumes
   Use flame-resistant costumes with reflective tape or glow sticks. Face paint over masks for clear vision.

3. Travel in Groups
   Adults should supervise kids under 12. Older kids should go in groups, carry a phone, and check-in.

4. Stay Safe on Streets
   Use crosswalks, stick to sidewalks, and avoid running. Start early (around 5:30 PM) for better visibility.

5. Inspect Treats
   Check candy at home, discarding unwrapped or suspicious items. Review labels for allergens like peanuts.

6. Respect Properties
   Avoid damaging lawns and remind kids to say “thank you.”

7. Prepare for Weather
   Dress in layers for chilly Alberta nights.

Spooky Spider Cookies: (Makes ~24 cookies)

Ingredients

• 16 oz pre-made chocolate chip or peanut butter cookie dough (or make homemade)

• 24 chocolate Hershey’s Kisses

• 1/4 cup chocolate chips (for melting)

• 48 candy eyes

Instructions

1. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F. Roll dough into 1-inch balls, place on parchment-lined sheet, and bake 10-12 min. Cool slightly.

2. Add Bodies: Press a kiss into each warm cookie’s center.

3. Draw Legs: Melt chocolate chips (microwave 30-sec intervals, stir until smooth). Pipe 8 legs per cookie using a ziplock bag with corner cut.

4. Add Eyes: Use melted chocolate to stick two candy eyes on each truffle.

5. Set & Serve: Chill 10 min in fridge. Serve at Halloween events!
